The electric tram travels through the Great Eastern Hardwood Forest surrounding Lake Redington.  Starting from the National Wildlife Visitor Center, the tram progresses through several different types of habitats prompting discussion and interpretation of: the animal inhabitants of those habitats, how the habitats change, threats encountered by the animal life, wildlife conservation efforts conducted by the refuge, and research conducted by the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center. The tour concludes back at the Visitor Center with a discussion of wildlife conservation efforts which can be pursued by everyone who is concerned about the future of wildlife on our planet.
