Friends Members & Volunteers:
The Patuxent Wildlife Art Show and Sale has been a major
Friends of Patuxent fundraiser for the past 24 years.
Changing times, modern technologies and financial uncertainty
are impacting human behavior, including the way people spend
their time and their money. In recent years, attendance and
profits at the art show have diminished drastically.
Therefore, at the last meeting of the Board of Directors of
the Friends of Patuxent, the board voted to discontinue the
Patuxent Wildlife Art Show and Sale. Several issues were
considered in making this decision, including the state of
the economy, attendance at the event, artist participation
and declining profits.
Many thanks to the volunteers who have helped us with the
art show. We could not have done it without your help.
A special thanks goes to C. “Sparky” Sparks, Chair of the
Art Show Committee, and the Art Show Committee members who
have worked very hard on the planning and organizing of the art
show each year.
